Ryan Phillips, Nursery Manager
My name is Ryan I am currently employed as nursery manager for Monkey Puzzle Muswell Hill. I started the company as an assistant manager at our East Finchley site in May 2014. My role at East Finchley included supporting the management team with office responsibilities and also running the preschool room for children from 3-5 years. I thoroughly enjoyed working at East Finchley in my dual role as it meant I could gain further knowledge and experience to support my managerial role as well as spending time with the children and staff in the room to ensure best practice. The role included supporting the management team with nursery visits, and other office responsibilities such as staff supervision meetings, taking phone calls and organising outings and events. As preschool room leader I would ensure best practise managing a team of 6 staff members caring for up to 50 children per day in a key worker role, supporting with cover to support staff with paperwork and other commitments. A typical day in preschool would involve planning and implementing activities and experiences to extend the children’s learning and to close gaps in their milestones, observing these activities and producing next steps for the following week. I absolutely loved my time in East Finchley, however in August 2018 I was promoted to nursery manager and transferred over to our site in Muswell Hill. I love working at Muswell Hill just as much as I did at East Finchley and as the two sites are owned by the same franchise I will often support East Finchley to cover annual leave which means I have positive relationships with the children, parents and staff across both nurseries’.
