Charity and fundraising days at nursey are an opportunity for children to learn about important causes and issues that affect their local community and the world around them. Fundraising creates the awareness in children that they are part of a larger community and through raising money, or doing good deeds they can have a positive impact on that community.

One of the biggest lessons children learn through fundraising is the importance of giving. It teaches children how to think about others, work toward helping others, and feel good about giving in order to help others who may be less fortunate. Learning about charities and their causes can teach children to be grateful for what they have.  Children who participate in fundraising events at a young age often continue to do so as they get older, so it can have a lasting influence for years to come.

Many of our pre-schoolers look forward to our charity events and enjoy taking part in fundraising activities.

Every year we participate in the following events:

Spring: Comic Relief

Summer: Charity nominated by a parent or community member

Autumn: Children in Need

Winter: Save the Children

In addition to these specific events, we make regular donations to our local foodbank and collect items such as clothing and toiletries to help people in need.

Comic Relief

All year-round, the money donated to Comic Relief works hard to support some incredible projects making a change to people’s lives across the UK and around the world. Over the last few years, Comic Relief funding has helped to support 3 million people.

For comic relief 2024 our children took part in some messy arts and crafts activities and our older children went on a Bluey scavenger hunt.

Charity nominated by a parent or community member.

As well as supporting national charities we believe that our nursery and preschool play an important  role in our community and strive to make it a better place for us being in it.

With this in mind, we also choose to support charities within our local community that are important to our families, staff and wider community.

We ask our families what charities are important to them and want to help however we can. If you would like to nominate a local charity benefiting the community of Muswell Hill or individuals within it, please email us with more information at manager@monkepuzzlemuswellhill.co.uk.

Children in Need

BBC Children in Need believes that every child should have the chance to thrive and be the best they can be. Originally established in 1980, Children in Need has been a beacon of fundraising and charity support in the UK for over 40 years.

We believe the work that they do to try and improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK is incredibly important and really can change lives.

The Children in Need charity helps to fund thousands of charities and projects in every corner of the UK, that support children and young people to feel and be safer, have improved mental health and wellbeing, form better, more positive relationships and be given more equal opportunities to flourish. We participate every year to make sure we play our part in helping and supporting those in need.

Save the Children

Christmas Jumper Day is Save the Children’s annual event which raises money for the children who need it most.  Every December, millions of people across the United Kingdom including us here at Monkey Puzzle Muswell Hill put on a festive knit and make a donation to help give children the magical future they deserve.  By dressing up and being silly we are helping children facing serious issues like war, hunger and poverty. Christmas Jumper Day has raised over £35 million for children in the UK and around the world since it began in 2012.
